Inoperative EPF Accounts: Latest Rules

An EPF account becomes 'inoperative' if no contributions are received for 36 consecutive months.

How to unblock or settle inoperative accounts:

  • The process is now streamlined. You must generate a UAN for the inoperative account.
  • Complete your KYC by seeding your Aadhaar and bank details to the UAN.
  • Once KYC is verified, you can either transfer the funds to your new, active PF account or apply for a final settlement (withdrawal).
